In a recent video posted on “X” by Sonam Wangchuk, he said Section 144 has been imposed on Leh, ahead of their peaceful “Pashmina March”.

Section 144 has been imposed in Leh, by the Ladakh administration on the 5th of April.
Section 144 of the Indian Institution clamis, “Power to issue order in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger”, which means without the permission of the district magistrate, a Sub-divisional Magistrate or any other Executive Magistrate there will be shall be no rally, March, etc.
The DM said there shall be no procession, rally, march etc. taken out by anyone without the prior approval and no one should use vehicle, or other loudspeakers without approval.

While climate activist Sonam Wangchuk said that “There is no violence, no aggression that section 144 has been applied here, in fact we are not following the path of violence and choosing rather a peaceful way to fight for our rights, which was promised by the Government ahead of elections” .
“We were sent a circular warning that their internet services will be put down, if they don’t stop their March, but the circular was later put down saying it was not by the Government, however it did seem like it was from the government” – Wangchuk clamined.
Attempts to arrest peaceful youth leaders even singers continue, while they were also forcibly convinced to write bonds last night.

“No public gathering without the prior approval of the competent authority shall be allowed. No one shall make any statements, which have potential to disturb the communal harmony, public tranquility and which may lead to law and order problems in the district,” the order reads. It warned that any violation of the order shall “invite punitive action”.
The order came in the wake of ongoing protests in Ladakh over the demands of Statehood and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
