Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy shared a captivating anecdote from his past, revealing how he endured 120 hours of relentless hunger while hitchhiking through Europe half a century ago. Speaking at an event hosted by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, Murthy emphasized the importance of gratitude towards one’s nation, citing his own journey from adversity to success as a testament to the transformative power of education and opportunity.

During his address, Murthy called for global leaders to replicate the Akshaya Patra model, an initiative in India aimed at providing nutritious meals to underprivileged children, thereby fostering joy, health, and confidence among them. He commended the Indian government’s efforts, including the world’s largest food security program, and underscored Akshaya Patra’s role as a vital partner in ensuring inclusivity and prosperity for India’s future generations.

Highlighting the broader significance of initiatives like Akshaya Patra, Murthy emphasized that poverty transcends borders and that addressing it requires collective action. He praised the program for not only nourishing children’s bodies but also nurturing their aspirations, making them enthusiastic contributors to India’s journey towards economic progress and social empowerment.
