Rahul Gandhi defeated Smriti Irani to win the Amethi seat for the third time in 2014. With 46.72% of the total votes cast, Gandhi led Irani with 34.39%. But in 2019, the roles were reversed as Smriti Irani secured 49.71% of the vote, while Gandhi received 43.86%.
The BJP then declared Irani’s candidacies for reelection in Amethi. On the other hand, Gandhi was selected by the Congress for the Wayanad seat in Kerala. Gandhi is fighting in three directions in Wayanad, with Annie Raja of the CPI being his main foe. The BJP has also announced K Surendran as a candidate for state chief.

Election schedule for Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha 2024 released by Election Commission of India (ECI). There will be seven phases to the elections, which begin on April 19 and end on June 1. On May 20, Amethi is scheduled to cast a ballot in Phase 5.
The date of the vote count is June 4.
