Elon Musk’s planned visit to India, initially set for April 21 to 22, has been postponed due to pressing obligations at Tesla. The decision came after a CNBC-TV18 report highlighted the necessity for Musk to participate in a crucial conference call on April 23 regarding Tesla’s first-quarter performance. Musk expressed regret over the delay, citing heavy commitments but assured his intention to visit India later in the year.
During his anticipated visit, Musk aimed to engage in discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and potentially unveil plans for Tesla’s entry into the Indian market. Reports suggested that Musk planned to announce a significant investment of $2 billion to $3 billion, primarily focused on establishing a manufacturing facility in India. This move aligns with the Indian government’s recent policy revisions aimed at reducing tariffs on imported vehicles for companies investing locally.
In addition to governmental engagements, Musk was also scheduled to meet with executives from various space startups in New Delhi. Furthermore, Musk is eagerly awaiting regulatory approvals from the Indian government to introduce his Starlink satellite broadband services, catering to the nation’s vast population.
