
On Monday, it was confirmed by a spokesperson for actor Ranveer Singh that an FIR had been filed against a social media handle responsible for promoting a deepfake video featuring the actor.
The video, which surfaced online the previous week, portrayed Singh expressing his political opinions. However, it was later revealed that the footage had been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The original segment of the video appeared to be extracted from an interview the actor gave during a fashion event in Varanasi.In response to the dissemination of the deepfake video, Singh took legal action by filing a police complaint.
The FIR has been registered, and the Cyber Crime Cell will conduct further investigation into the matter to identify the individuals behind the creation and dissemination of the deepfake video.

The actor’s spokesperson issued a statement, saying, “We have filed a police complaint, and an FIR has been lodged against the account responsible for promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh.”Singh also took to social media to caution his followers about the dangers of deepfake technology, posting a warning on X: “Beware of deepfake, friends.”This incident follows a similar occurrence involving superstar Aamir Khan, whose deepfake video endorsing a political party circulated on social media. In response, the Mumbai Police initiated legal proceedings against an unidentified individual associated with the creation and distribution of the deepfake video featuring Khan.
