Archana Patil, daughter-in-law of former Lok Sabha speaker Shivraj Patil, made headlines as she officially joined the BJP in Maharashtra. Patil, who chairs the Lifecare Hospital and Research Centre in Udgir, cited admiration for PM Modi’s initiatives like the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a reason for her move. Expressing commitment to grassroots work, she emphasized being influenced by BJP’s ideology.
Having met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis prior to her formal entry into the BJP, Patil’s decision was initially scheduled alongside former state minister Baswaraj Murumkar. However, the plan was postponed due to her daughter’s wedding. Shivraj Patil, who served as Union Home Minister from 2004 to 2008, remains a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics.
