India declared as the “cancer capital of the world”: an alarming fastest rise of cancer cases in the world !

A recent health report on India released on Friday, revealed India as the largest Non Communicable Diseases (NCD’s) nationwide, with cancer being the fastest growing disease of India.

According to some alarming reports released by the 4th edition of Apolo Hospital’s “Health of the nation report” on the World Health Day 2024, it says: “Approximately one in three Indians are pre-diabetic, two in three are pre-hypertensive, and one in 10 are experiencing depression”.

This report clearly signifies India as the “cancer capital of the world”, highlighting the fact that India has the most amount of growing and fastest rise in cancer patients around the globe. Not only cancer but it also throws light on other Non Communicable Diseases like Diabetes, Pre-hypertensive, and Depression, which also shows that Indian population is not only exceeding in cancer cases but in other diseases as well.

While cancer symptoms can be seen with age mostly, in the mid and old-aged population of India, other mental diseases like depression, anxiety, hypertension affects the younger generation emphasizing, on the poor lifestyle conditions, of the India population.

Two out of three common types of cancer can be seen in the Women of India. However, the most common types of Cancer in India are Breast Cancer, affecting women of mostly 40 years and above, Cervical cancer affecting 15- 49 years of women, and Oral Cancer affecting men between 70-75 years.
