Kolkata Tragedy: Fatal Stabbing Amid Water Bottle Dispute!!!

A tragic incident unfolded on Monday (May 6) in Kolkata, where an 18-year-old boy from the city was fatally stabbed by his flatmate following a dispute. The accused, identified as 30-year-old Akash Hari, allegedly attacked the victim, Nitish Rabidas, after an argument erupted over sharing a water bottle.

The confrontation occurred during a party hosted by Hari on the open terrace of their residence in the KMC Sweeper Quarters on UC Banerjee Road, Phoolbagan area.

According to the police, tension had been brewing between the two roommates for some time, particularly regarding who would have access to sleep on the open terrace amid the sweltering heatwave gripping the city. Nitish, who had recently moved to Kolkata and was staying with his elder sister, had taken up a job in the area.Additional CP (I) Murlidhar Sharma revealed that Hari had armed himself with sharp objects, including knives and cutters, before carrying out the fatal attack on the terrace.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the weapon used in the crime.The altercation escalated after midnight when Hari, enraged by his inability to secure a spot on the terrace and aggravated by the refusal to share the water bottle, initiated a physical confrontation. The victim was abruptly awakened when Hari hurled his water bottle to the ground, triggering a heated argument. During the altercation, Hari allegedly stabbed Nitish with a cannabis-chopping knife. Despite being rushed to NRS Hospital, Nitish was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Following the postmortem examination, the victim’s body was released to his grieving family.
