People adviced to wear masks, as new cases of Covid19 wave hits Singapore.

The Health minister of Singapore Ong Ye Kung on Saturday adviced the citizen to start wearing masks again, as a new wave of Covid 19 cases hit Singapore. The authorities have recorded a rise in more than 25,900 cases from May 5 to 11.

We are at the beginning part of the wave where it is steadily rising. So, I would say the wave should peak in the next two to four weeks, which means between mid- and end of June,” said Ong.

The ministry has also recorded that the average daily covid 19 hospitalizations have increased from 181 to approximately 250 during the same period. So, to preserve hospital bed captivity, public hospitals have been instructed to reduce non-urgent elective surgeries and transfer appropriate patients to care facilities.

Hence, seeing the growth rate of covid cases which is again over 25,900 cases in the past 6 days and also considering the rise in hospitalizations, the government has asked people to start wearing masks again.
