“The whole atmosphere will be spoiled, if you appear for exams”: Rajasthan gang rape survivor refused, to give her class 12 board exams !

A class 12 student from Ajmer, Rajasthan, was refused to give her boards exam after, she was gang raped last year. According to various media reports, she was told by her school that, “The whole atmosphere of the school will be spoiled if you appear for your class 12 board exams”.

However when the school was asked why they are not granting her permission to sit for her exams they clamined “she was not given an admit card to sit for her exams because she did not come to school for the past four months”.

The Child Welfare Commision (CWC) of Ajmer, registered a case against the school and started their investigation after a teacher of the victim advised her to call the child helpline number, when she was refused the grant of her admit card.

CWC Chairperson Anjali Sharma quoted that “Our top most priority for now is that the girl can attend her exams, and the investigations are on as well”. She also said “The girl told me she had scored 79% in her class 10th board exams, and she would score even more in this board exams” .

As of now the school has refused to give her admit card claiming she is no longer a part of this school, the CWC chief said, adding that she later realized the school had barred her from entering the premises immediately after her rape as other parents raised objections to her presence.
