“Woman Raped, Forced to Convert in Karnataka: Shocking Details Emerge”

In a disturbing incident in Karnataka, a 28-year-old woman fell victim to a harrowing ordeal, allegedly raped and coerced into converting to Islam by a man in the presence of his wife. The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, revealed that she was subjected to threats of having explicit images of her released online if she resisted the demands imposed upon her. Furthermore, she recounted being forced to remove traditional markings like ‘Kumkum’ from her forehead and don a burkha, signifying a drastic change imposed upon her by the accused couple.

Authorities have taken swift action in response to the heinous crime, filing a case against seven individuals, including the primary accused, identified as Rafik, and his wife. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the couple lured the victim into their clutches under false pretenses, subsequently subjecting her to sexual exploitation and blackmail. The FIR outlines a series of charges, ranging from rape and kidnapping to criminal intimidation, reflecting the severity of the crimes perpetrated against the victim. Additionally, the case invokes the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act, underscoring the aspect of religious coercion in the assault.

The victim’s ordeal further unfolded as she narrated facing caste-based discrimination and relentless pressure to renounce her faith due to her belonging to a marginalized community. This distressing revelation sheds light on the intersectionality of factors contributing to her victimization, including religious and caste-based prejudices. As the investigation progresses, authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the survivor and holding the perpetrators fully accountable for their reprehensible actions.
