The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operated by Singapore Airlines, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, made an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday on its way to Singapore.
Due to extreme turbulence, a Singapore Airlines flight from London had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday. The airline said that over thirty people were injured and that one passenger had died while on board.
According to a statement from the airline, which Reuters cited, “the Boeing 777-300ER plane with 211 passengers and 18 crew was headed to Singapore when it made the emergency landing.” The airline announced in a statement, “We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER.”
The airline said it is “working with the local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance and sending a team to Bangkok to provide any additional assistance needed.”

The plane, which was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, was traveling from London Heathrow to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport when it encountered turbulence, according to Reuters. According to FlightRadar24, “the aircraft took off from London at 10:38 pm local time on Monday.” Food and other loose goods were scattered across the cabin floor in unverified photographs that were shared on social media.
